c.) Equipment clearance. A ll equipment <strong>and</strong> piping shall be installed to facilitate servicingwith minimal ef<strong>for</strong>t. Filter tanks shall be at least eight inches (8”) apart, twelve inches (12”)from walls, <strong>and</strong> thirty-six inches (36”) from the ceiling. Ceiling height shall be a minimum ofeight f eet (8’) from t he floor s urface. Clearance a round a ll e quipment <strong>and</strong> a ppurtenancesmust permit unobstructed, ready access <strong>for</strong> inspection, maintenance, <strong>and</strong> operation.d.) Electrical controls. At least fifteen feet(15’) o f f ree, unobs tructed c learance s hall be provided a bove di ving boards a nd di vingplat<strong>for</strong>ms.c.) Finish <strong>and</strong> Use. D iving boa rds a nd pl at<strong>for</strong>ms s hall ha ve a l ight c olored, slip-resistantfinish. Starting plat<strong>for</strong>ms shall be used only <strong>for</strong> competitive swimming, shall have a lightcolored,slip-resistant finish, <strong>and</strong> shall be removed from the deck when not being used <strong>for</strong>their intended purpose.d.) Safety. Approved diving equipment shall be installed only on pool types that are equal toor l arger t han t he pool t ype de signated b y t he manufacturer. D iving e quipment s hall beinstalled according to the manufacturer’s instructions <strong>and</strong> specifications <strong>and</strong> this article. Alldiving st<strong>and</strong>s higher than twenty-one inches (21”) measured from the deck to the top of thesecured end of the board shall be provided with stairs <strong>and</strong>/or a ladder. Steps <strong>and</strong> ladders shallbe of corrosion-resistant material, easily cleanable <strong>and</strong> with treads that are slip-resistant <strong>and</strong>self-draining. P lat<strong>for</strong>ms a nd di ving e quipment of one m eter (1m) s hall be pr otected w ithh<strong>and</strong>rails that shall be at least thirty inches (30”) above the diving board or plat<strong>for</strong>m surface.All plat<strong>for</strong>ms or diving equipment higher than one meter (1m) shall have dual h<strong>and</strong>rails thatare approximately eighteen inches (18”) from the bottom rail <strong>and</strong> thirty-six inches (36”) fromthe top rail above the diving board or plat<strong>for</strong>m surface. A ll plat<strong>for</strong>m or diving equipmentgreater than one meter (1m) in height shall have dual h<strong>and</strong>rails installed at a maximum of onemeter ( 1m) a bove t he deck l evel a nd c ontinuous a bove t he boa rd or pl at<strong>for</strong>m, a nd i naccordance w ith manufacturer’s s pecifications. All r equired h<strong>and</strong>rails f or di vingplat<strong>for</strong>ms/boards shall e xtend over to at least the edge of the pool wall. Diving equipmentshall be permanently anchored to the pool deck.
