INFM 372. Human-Computer Interaction and Usability Study (3 hours)Prerequisites: INSY 102; LBST 175, 180 or equivalent; PSYC 111.This course explores how people interact with computers during computer operation andsoftware task performance. Students will examine cognitive, physical, and social characteristicsthat affect how one approaches computer use and apply that knowledge to effectivecomputer system design. Students will work on both individual and team projects todesign, implement and evaluate computer interfaces. This course is open to studentsfrom all disciplines. Laboratory fee.INFM 390. Special Topics in Informatics(3 hours)Prerequisite: Consent of instructor or department chair.This is the study of some significant topic in any informatics discipline which is not availablethrough some other program offerings.INFM 395. Directed Study in Informatics(3 hours)Prerequisite: Consent of instructor or department chair.This course allows the student to explore, in greater depth, a topic raised in establishedInformatics courses.INFM 455. Systems Analysis and Design(3 hours)Prerequisites: INFM 310 with grade of “C” or above, INFM 312 with grade of “C” or above;LBST 175, 180 or equivalent.This course provides an introduction to systems design skills required for organizationalinformation engineering. Topics include assessment of information systems performancesuccesses and failures, preparation of preliminary systems analysis documents, and conceptualdesign of new information systems necessary to meet organizational needs, aswell as a strong foundation in systems analysis and design concepts, methodologies,techniques, and tools. Capstone for General Informatics(3 hours)Prerequisites: All other courses in the General Informatics track; consent of academicadvisor.Students complete their course studies through practical application of concepts andpractices by developing a real-time Informatics case project.
