Completion of the planned program (including the prerequisite T-4 certificate) and a passing score on the appropriate content assessment leads to eligibilityfor master's level certification in Reading by the Georgia Professional StandardsCommission.Reading M.Ed. Program GoalsThe M.Ed. Reading program provides teachers with the skills to blend theory withpractice. The major goal of the program is to enable candidates to develop knowledge,skills, and strategies and to become collaborators/mediators in improving literacy performancefor all students. At this advanced level, teachers are expected to expand onknowledge gleaned from the initial preparation coursework in reading and to developskills and strategies based on current research to be competent reading teachers.Reading M.Ed.
