To Know, To Do and To BeMASTER OF EDUCATION IN HIGHER EDUCATIONLEADERSHIPThe M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership aligns with the conceptual framework of thecollege, The Transformational Leader. In response to the lack of national standards for thepreparation of higher education leaders, faculty developed the <strong>Mercer</strong> <strong>University</strong>Standards for Higher Education Leadership, a set of 13 standards with 61 embedded elements,to guide the design of this program. The program is designed for individuals whoare seeking careers as directors, coordinators, managers, or supervisors in higher educationat the mid-administration or mid-management level. Examples include Director ofFinancial Aid, Director of Housing, Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Director of HumanResources, Director of Academic Advising, Director of Safety, Coordinator of StudentSupport Services, or Supervisor of Maintenance. Candidates will have two options –Higher Education Leadership (HEDL) or Higher Education Leadership with AcademicAdvising Certification (AAC). Further, candidates will choose from one of two tracks -Community College/Technical College or Four-year Private or Public Institution. An optionaladd-on certificate program in Academic Advising may be simultaneously earned by candidatesin either program track by completing a 5-course curriculum that complies with theacademic coursework for certification established by the National Academic AdvisingAssociation (NACADA). Individuals who already hold a master’s degree or higher, but arenot enrolled in the proposed M.Ed. program, may apply to earn the add-on AcademicAdvising Certificate only.202 / MERCER UNIVERSITY
