Joint Degree in the Master of Divinity and the Master of Science inClinical Mental Health CounselingThe joint M.Div. and M.S. degrees integrate the highest knowledge of professionalcounseling with the ministries of pastoral care and counseling. Both the M.Div. and M.S.programs hold the highest accreditation available in the United States. The most comprehensiveMasters level program in faith oriented counseling, the M.DIV/M.S. in ClinicalMental Health Counseling prepares you for licensure as a professional counselor.Counseling is an applied profession that employs skills, instrumentation, and techniquesto facilitate the progress of each person being served.The M.Div degree accepts 18 hours from the M.S. degree, while the M.S. degreeaccepts 12 hours from the M.Div. degree. A full time student could expect to finish the twodegrees in four years of study. Applicants must meet the admissions requirements forboth McAfee School of Theology and The Department of Counseling and HumanSciences within the College of Continuing and Professional Studies (CCPS).CCPS Entrance Requirements include: Submission of two copies of the applicationfor admission to the counseling program, including a recent photograph; completion of anundergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college or university; an undergraduatecumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater; a minimum score of 800 on the GRE or 397 on theMAT (currently enrolled McAfee School of Theology students are not required to submitGRE/MAT scores); a written autobiography including career goals; two copies of transcriptsfrom each college or university attended, graduate or undergraduate; an interviewwith the Counseling Admissions Committee; a $25 nonrefundable application fee.McAfee Entrance Requirements for the M.Div./M.S. in Clinical Mental HealthCounseling degree include: submission of the application for admission to this dualdegree program to the Pastoral Care Department. In addition, an admission interview withthe Pastoral Care Department, or a person designated by the department, may be scheduledwith the student. This interview may be conducted along with the CCPS interview orseparately.The admissions decision for this program will include an evaluation of the student’spotential, readiness, and appropriateness for this program. Continuing in the program iscontingent upon the following: submission of copies of both student and supervisor finalevaluations for all CPE courses to the Pastoral Care Department; the student giving allsupervisors written permission to consult with the Pastoral Care Department regardingthe student’s progress; and making appropriate progress in developing the knowledge,skills, and character needed for the practice of pastoral counseling.Joint Degree in the Master of Divinity and the Master of BusinessAdministration ProgramsThose students who meet the entrance requirements for the Master of BusinessAdministration may also choose to enter a joint Master of Divinity and Master of BusinessAdministration program. The joint M.Div. and M.B.A. degrees integrate a foundation ofbusiness administration into the local church setting. The Master of Divinity curriculumplaces students in church administrative ministries through the mentoring program andincorporates up to twelve (12) hours of M.B.A. core coursework into the ninety (90) hourM.Div. degree. The Master of Business Administration incorporates up to six (6) hours ofM.Div. credit into the thirty-six (36) hour M.B.A. degree.
