Module 4:Corporate Strategy—Implementation andFormation (12 hours)PBA 654a. Information Technology and Strategic Alignment (1.5 hours)Information technology as an enabler to strategy execution is the subject of discussion.The evolving role of the CIO and the importance of strategic alignment with informationtechnology are identified.PBA 654b. Marketing Strategies(3 hours)This course analyzes the decision maker’s process in producing a marketing strategyconsistent with factors that are influencing the marketing environment. The focus of thiscourse is on the development of products/services, pricing, distribution, and promotionstrategies that satisfy customer needs and wants and facilitate profitable, long-term relationshipswith those customers.PBA 654c. Financial Resources for Corporate Strategy (3 hours)Exploring the corporate creation of value that supports the business’ objectives and thevirtues and pitfalls of the competitive analysis approach are compared. Evaluation of realinvestments and application is included. Capital allocation decision and capital structureas well as discussions of financial decision making strategies to minimize risk exposureare examined.PBA 654d. Strategic Management(3 hours)The development and execution of strategy is examined. Students will have the opportunityto integrate and apply the concepts and principles from other courses in the programto develop effective and successful business strategy. Case analysis is used to applythese concepts.PBA 654e. Strategy Simulation(1.5 hours) Students experience through this simulation the competitive and dynamicbusiness environment and participate as member of an executive team. Resolving issuesand making collective and individual decisions to drive business performance is the focusof this experience.EXECUTIVE MASTER OF BUSINESSADMINISTRATION (EMBA)The EMBA program is conducted in four semester-long terms and four shorterretreats. Students will study complementary business topics in thematically integratedcourses varying in the number of credit hours.EBA 621a. Retreat 1: High Performing Organizationsand Communications(2 hours)This is an orientation to the EMBA program. Topics include building high performanceteams, contemporary leadership thinking, and skills in negotiating conflict and resolutionof disputes. Students will also examine business communication skills.Module 1: Analysis of the External Environment(9 hours)EBA 631a.
