Special Topics(1 to 3 hours)Baptist Social EthicistsPrerequisite: ETH 641An investigation of important Baptist thinkers and activists who have influenced Churchand society for social change in the application of the gospel. Students will engage inresearch on a specific Baptist with attention primarily to actors within the twentieth century.ETH 900. Faces of Jesus: A Global Perspective(3 hours)This course will examine ways in which Jesus is perceived through the lens of many ofthe world’s religious traditions. It will examine Jesus as an historical person, as a spiritualfigure, and as Savior. Emphasis will be given to a view of Jesus from the two-thirdsworld. Students will be encouraged to discover ways to talk about Jesus with personsfrom other faith traditions and to explore new avenues of missiological encounters.EVM 602. The Mission of God in the 21st Century(3 hours)This course assesses the church’s role in the mission of God in the twenty-first centurythrough the lens of previous historical shifts in the church’s understanding of this mission,cultural realities that have shaped Christian mission, emerging missiological perspectives,and the shaping influence of churches in the eastern and southern hemispheres.Mission leaders from around the world will be conversation partners to assist students inunderstanding the twenty-first century context.EVM 603. Mentoring: Urban Mission(3 hours)Students in the Urban Mission track are required to complete a semester of placement.In consultation with the professor, this is to be a mentoring experience in an urban setting.EVM 605. Mentoring: Global Christianity(3 hours)Students in the Global Christianity track are required to complete a semester of placement.In consultation with the professor, this is to be a cross-cultural, preferably overseas,mentoring experience.EVM 661. Evangelism and Mission I(3 hours)Taught in two sections, this course gives the student an introduction to mission and evangelismin the life of the church.
