3.3 The Contractor will review <strong>and</strong> summarize fisheries policy documents <strong>and</strong> them<strong>and</strong>ate <strong>and</strong> structure of different fisheries organizations in B.C. <strong>and</strong> Alaska.<strong>Fisheries</strong> <strong>Management</strong>3.4 The Contractor will identify the critical information requirements for sockeyefisheries management in the <strong>Fraser</strong> <strong>River</strong> <strong>and</strong> in Bristol Bay.3.5 The Contractor will describe <strong>and</strong> evaluate the accuracy <strong>and</strong> precision of preseasonforecasting methods in B.C. <strong>and</strong> Alaska. This work will include adescription of the application of pre-season forecasting in harvest management.3.6 The Contractor will describe <strong>and</strong> evaluate the accuracy <strong>and</strong> precision of in-seasonrun-size abundance estimation methods in BC <strong>and</strong> Alaska. This work will includea description of the application of in-season run-size abundance estimation inharvest management.3.7 For both B.C. <strong>and</strong> Alaska, the Contractor will analyze historical performance ofthe in-season assessment process, to include changes in estimates of run sizes withparticular emphasis on how long it has taken within each season to correctlyassess the final run size. The key issue to be described is how quickly the inseasonassessment process can respond to errors in pre-season forecasts so as tomeet escapement goals.3.8 The Contractor will describe <strong>and</strong> evaluate the accuracy, precision <strong>and</strong> reliabilityof in-season <strong>and</strong> post-season escapement enumeration methods used in B.C. <strong>and</strong>Alaska.SW4Deliverables4.1 The main deliverables of the contract are 2 word files addressing “Comparison ofCommercial <strong>Sockeye</strong> <strong>Fisheries</strong> <strong>Management</strong> in the <strong>Fraser</strong> <strong>River</strong>, B.C. <strong>and</strong> BristolBay, Alaska”: (1) a contribution to the LGL fisheries progress report, <strong>and</strong> (2) acontribution to the LGL final report. The style for these Reports will be a hybridbetween a scientific style <strong>and</strong> a policy document. An example of a documentwhich follows this format is the B.C. Pacific Salmon Forum Final Report(www.pacificsalmonforum.ca).A-7
