John Allen was also known as “Squire” Allen. On June 6, 1815, JohnAllen married Sarah Bell in Davidson County, Tennessee. Sarah was bornaround 1792. John and Sarah Allen were the parents of two children:. . . Robert Bell Allen (1.9.2.1), b. April 8, 1817, Davidson County, Tennessee. . . Margerie Allen (1.9.2.2), b. December 17, 1817, Davidson County, TennesseeIn 1820, “John” Allen (born 1775 to 1794) was living in Madison County,Illinois. John was a leading politician from 1820 to 1837. From 1830 to 1840,John Allen was living in Greene County, Illinois. The 1830 census recordindicates that John Allen had six sons and three daughters and it has been statedthat other children of John’s children died of consumption. John “Squire” Allendied on February 16, 1841 in Greene County, Illinois and was buried there in theNew Providence Cemetery.
