OnSeptember 6, 1838, Margaret “Pickard” married Joseph “Aultom” in GreeneCounty, Illinois. Joseph was born in 1819 in Tennessee. Joseph Altum waspreviously married to Mary Lee on March 17, 1836 in Greene County, Illinois.On November 28, 1838 (the following month after Margaret again), JosephOrton was made the guardian of all four children of George M. Pickard, onedaughter by his sister-in-law, Nancy (Bryan) Pickard, and three children by hisdaughter, Margaret (Orton) Pickard.
