ORTON (2.10.5) is the daughter of Joseph Orton and Mary (Bryan)Orton. Jane was born on November 4, 1818 in Tennessee. On April 16, 1841,Jane Orton married Hiram Stark in Greene County, Illinois. Hiram was born in1810 in Tennessee and is the son of Jesse Stark. The children of Hiram Starkare established in the probate records of his father, Jesse Stark. Hiram Stark’sbrother-in-law, Joseph Altum made the following statement: “now came JosephAltum and suggested that Elijah H. Stark, Joseph M. Stark, Julia Ann Stark andTelitha Jane Stark minor children of Hiram Stark, deceased, are entitled tomonies and credits from the estate of their grandfather, Jesse Stark.” Theprobate records continue: “ordered that the guardianship of Elijah H. Stark,Joseph M. Stark, Julia Ann Stark and Telitha Jane Stark be granted to JosephAltum.” Hiram and Jane Stark were the parents of at least four children:. . . Elijah H. Stark, b. 1843, Illinois. . . Orton inGreene County, Illinois. In 1880, “Jane E.” (Bryan) Starks was living with Johnand Julia Whetstone in Greene County, Illinois.
