One of the most convincing facts that link SamuelBryan (3) to Davidson County, Tennessee is the marriage record showing thatSamuel Bryan (3) married Charlotte “Charlton” in Davidson County, Tennessee.According to a 1956 letter from Martha (Mobley) McGill, Samuel Bryan “wasborn about 1800 in North Carolina.” The 1880 census of Hill County, Texasshows that Finus Bryan’s father, Samuel Bryan, was born in Ireland. The 1880census of Maury County, Tennessee shows that William DeMoss Bryan’s father,Samuel Bryan, was born in Tennessee. Several family historians believe thatSamuel Bryan married Charlotte Greer Charter. According to “Marriages ofDavidson County, Tennessee,” Samuel Bryan married Charlotte “Charlton” onSeptember 20, 1824 in Davidson County, Tennessee.
