<strong>BRYAN</strong> <strong>FAMILY</strong> <strong>HISTORY</strong> 8-307ANTHONY EMMONS <strong>BRYAN</strong>T (3.6.2.7.3) is the son of Emmons ChurchBryant and Oni Christine (Chevalier) Bryant. Anthony was born on April 26,1944 in Gilmer, Texas. On March 31, 1969, Anthony Bryant married GeniceWalters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Genice was born on February 22, 1944 inGilmer, Texas and is the daughter of Bruce Edwin Walters and Emma Jeanette(Henderson) Walters. Genice was previously married in Gilmer, Texas toTommy Harold Morris on December 9, 1961. Tommy and Genice weredivorced in Gilmer on November 9, 1967. Anthony and Genice Bryant are theparents of five children:. . . Veronica Bryant, b. October 9, 1964, Gilmer, Texas. . . Vonda Bryant, b. March 14, 1970, Gladewater, Texas. . . Lucinda Bryant, b. May 4, 1972, Longview, Texas. . . Anthony Emmons Bryant, Jr., b. September 2, 1975, Longview, Texas. . . Larita Bryant, b. July 26, 1978, Longview, TexasAnthony Bryant, Sr. played on championship football teams in junior high andhigh school. He played halfback, fullback and line-backer and was an all-districtplayer his senior year. Anthony graduated from Gilmer High School in 1962and earned an athletic scholarship to play football at Brigham Young Universityand played football for one semester. He then went to East Texas StateUniversity where he was the starting fullback his sophomore year. After hissophomore year, he left school for two years to become a missionary for theLatter Day Saints Church, serving the North Central states mission whichincluded Minnesota, South Dakota and Winnepeg, Canada. After his mission, hereturned to East Texas State University and played football. Anthony received aBachelor of Science degree in physical education from East Texas StateUniversity in 1968. After graduation, he taught and coached at Chapel Hill HighSchool near Tyler, Texas for one year. He then taught at Gladewater, Texas forfour years and at Gilmer for the next four years. While teaching full-time, hewent to school at night and received a Masters degree in physical education in1974. After nine years of teaching, he went into the dairy business with hisfather in Kelsey, Texas. Anthony held several church positions in the Latter DaySaints Church including: full-time missionary, stake missionary, sunday schoolteacher, high counselor, first counselor in the bishopric, teachers quorum advisorand now is serving as the bishop of the Gilmer First Ward in Gilmer, Texas.Veronica Bryant’s natural parents are Tommy Morris and Genice Morris.Veronica was adopted by Anthony Bryant and her name was changed to Bryant.On January 14, 1984, Veronica Bryant married David Kent Phillips in Salt LakeCity, Utah. David was born on October 28, 1959 in Provo, Utah and is the sonof Kent Gordon Phillips and Linda (Chase) Phillips. David and VeronicaPhillips are the parents of one daughter: - Celia Phillips, b. July 15, 1986,American Fork, Utah. Vonda Bryant is the parent of one child: - HaileyBryant, b.
