NDMP support is available only on IBM Tivoli Storage Manager ExtendedEdition.Backing up NAS file systems using the Web client GUIFor both the Web client GUI and the command line client, you must specifypasswordaccess=generate (which is a current Web client restriction for the clientnode) and the authentication=on must be specified at the server. You are alwaysprompted for a user ID and password. To display NAS nodes and perform NASfunctions, you must enter an authorized administrative user ID and password. Theauthorized administrative user ID should have at least client owner authority overboth the NAS node and the client workstation node they are using either fromcommand line or from the web.You can use the toc option with the include.fs.nas option in the client options fileto specify whether Tivoli Storage Manager saves Table of Contents (TOC)information for each file system backup. If you save TOC information, you can useTivoli Storage Manager Web client to examine the entire file system tree and selectfiles and directories to restore. Creation of a TOC requires that you define theTOCDESTINATION attribute in the backup copy group for the management classto which this backup image is bound. Note that TOC creation requires additionalprocessing, network resources, storage pool space, and possibly a mount pointduring the backup operation. To back up NAS file systems using the Web client GUI:1. Click Backup from the main window. The Backup window is displayed.2. Expand the directory tree if necessary.Note:a. The root node called Nodes is not selectable. This node only appears if aNAS plug-in is present on the client machine.b. NAS nodes display on the same level as the client workstation node. Onlynodes for which the administrator has authority appear.c. You can expand NAS nodes to reveal file spaces, but no further expansion isavailable (no file names).3. Click the selection boxes next to the nodes or file systems you want to back up.4. Click the type of backup you want to perform in the backup type pull-downmenu. The NAS backup type list is active only when you first select NASbackup objects. Full backup backs up the entire file system. Differential backsup the changes since the most recent full backup.5. Click Backup. The NAS Backup Task List window displays the backupprocessing status and progress bar. The number next to the progress barindicates the number of bytes backed up so far. After the backup completes, theNAS Backup Report window displays processing details, including the actualsize of the backup including the total bytes backed up.Note: If it is necessary to close the Web browser session, current NASoperations will continue after disconnect. You can use the Dismiss button onthe NAS Backup Task List window to quit monitoring processing withoutending the current operation.148 IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for UNIX and Linux Backup-Archive Clients Version 6.1: Installation and User’s Guide
