Backing up NFS file systemsvvNAS nodes represent a new node type. The NAS node name uniquely identifiesa NAS file server and its data to Tivoli Storage Manager. You can prefix the NASnode name to the file specification to specify the file server to which the includestatement applies. If you do not specify a NAS node name, the file system youspecify applies to all NAS file servers.Regardless of client platform, NAS file system specifications use the forwardslash (/) separator, as in this example: /vol/vol0.Note: When you initiate a NAS backup operation using the command line client,GUI client, or Web client the server starts a process to initiate, control, and monitorthe operation. While betterbackup throughput performance can be realized by installing the Backup-Archiveclient where the file system physically resides, it is sometimes necessary to accessfile systems using NFS for purposes of backup and recovery. The Tivoli StorageManager UNIX and Linux Backup-Archive client can back up, archive, restore andretrieve file data using an NFS mount. This includes all versions of the NFSprotocol, including NFS version 2, NFS version 3, and NFS version 4.The NFS version 4 protocol allows for the export of access control lists (ACL) withNFS. As shown in the following table, some of the Backup-Archive clients providesupport to back up and restore ACL information on data accessed using NFS. Notethat the NFS version 4 protocol must be installed on both the NFS client and NFSserver in order to backup and restore ACL data.Table 34.
