Your administrator must give you authority to delete backup files.You can delete your backed up files from the Tivoli Storage Manager client nodeworkstation if the function is enabled on the Tivoli Storage Manager node’sdefinition. When you do this, the Tivoli Storage Manager server will take all of thebacked up files that meet the ’filespec’ and ’deltype’ specified and deactivate them.The server also assigns a deactivation date of ’infinite-minus’ so that the files areno longer available for restore and are purged, immediately on the subsequent runof file expiration. The file is not physically removed until the expiration processruns.Important: After you delete backup files, you cannot restore them. Verify that thebackup files are no longer needed before you delete them. Tivoli Storage Managerwill prompt whether you want to continue with the delete.
