TocUse the toc option with the backup nas comm<strong>and</strong> or the include.fs.nas option tospecify whether <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> saves table of contents (TOC) in<strong>for</strong>mation<strong>for</strong> each file system backup.You should consider the following when deciding whether you want to save TOCin<strong>for</strong>mation:vvvvIf you save TOC in<strong>for</strong>mation, you can use the query toc server comm<strong>and</strong> todetermine the contents of a file system backup in conjunction with the restorenode server comm<strong>and</strong> to restore individual files or directory trees.You can also use the <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> Web client to examine the entire filesystem tree <strong>and</strong> select files <strong>and</strong> directories to restore.Creation of a TOC requires that you define the TOCDESTINATION attribute inthe backup copy group <strong>for</strong> the management class to which this backup image isbound. Note that TOC creation requires additional processing, networkresources, storage pool space, <strong>and</strong> possibly a mount point during the backupoperation.If you do not save TOC in<strong>for</strong>mation, you can still restore individual files ordirectory trees using the restore node server comm<strong>and</strong>, provided that you knowthe fully qualified name of each file or directory <strong>and</strong> the image in which thatobject was backed up.Supported ClientsThis option is valid <strong>for</strong> AIX <strong>and</strong> Solaris clients only. The <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>client API does not support this option.Options FilePlace the include.fs.nas statement containing the toc value in the dsm.sys file.Syntax►►TOCPreferredYesNo►◄ParametersYesSpecifies that <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> saves TOC in<strong>for</strong>mation during a NAS filesystem image backup. However, the backup will fail if an error occurs duringcreation of the TOC.No Specifies that <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> does not save TOC in<strong>for</strong>mation during aNAS file system image backup.PreferredSpecifies that <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> saves TOC in<strong>for</strong>mation during a NAS filesystem image backup. The backup does not fail if an error occurs duringcreation of the TOC.
