First stepsSetting up the handset for useThe display is protected by a plastic film.Please remove the protective film!Inserting the batteries and closing the battery coverWarningOnly use the rechargeable batteries (¢ page 74), i.e. never use conventional(non-rechargeable) batteries, as this could result in significant healthrisks and personal injury. For example, the outer casing of the batteriescould be damaged or the batteries could explode. The phone could alsomalfunction or be damaged as a result of using batteries that are not of therecommended type.¤ Insert the batteries theright way round.The polarity is indicatedin/on the batterycompartment.ab¤ First insert the batterycover at the top a.¤ Then press the cover buntil it clicks into place.If you need to open the batterycover, for instance to replace thebatteries, place your fingertip inthe cavity on the casing and pullthe battery cover upwards.11
First stepsAttaching the belt clipThe handset has notches on each side to attach the belt clip.¤ To attach – press the belt cliponto the back of the handset sothat the protrusions on the beltclip engage with the notches.¤ To remove – using your rightthumb apply pressure to thecentre of the belt clip, push thefingernail of your left index fingerbetween the clip and thecasing and lift the clip upwards.Placing the handset in the base¤ Place the handset in the base with its display facing forward.Each handset is registered with the base at the factory. You do not need to completea registration. If you wish to use your handset with a different base or usefurther handsets with your base, you will have to register the handset manually¢ page 56.To charge the batteries, leave the handset in the base.Please noteOnly place the handset in the base that is intended for it.12
