3.0 INSTALLATIONThere are some precautions that must be observed when installing ANAFAZE 12LS.WARNING! -- ELECTRICAL SHOCK DANGERIt is very important that all system power includingthe power input be disconnected before servicing theANAFAZE 12LS. HIGH VOLTAGE MAY BE PRESENT EVEN WHENPOWER IS TURNED OFF! To reduce the danger of electricalshock always mount the 12LS in an enclosurethat prevents personal contact.Although the ANAFAZE 12LS makes measurements of input signals that are referenced toground, the 12LS ground and other signal lines can inadvertently have power line or other highvoltage present even if the input power is turned off. This is possible, for example, if athermocouple was shorted to the AC power line.WARNING!USE CORRECT INSULATION TRIM LENGTH AND WIRE GAUGEThe correct insulation trim length is 1/4" or 5 mm.Care must be taken to prevent contact between wiresand the case, which is grounded. The terminalmanufacturer has UL approval for #14 to #30 (AWG).ANAFAZE recommends using #18 or #20 AWG.To effectively use the terminals, the wire insulation should be trimmed so that the wire fits insidethe terminal with no bare wire exposed. Stranded wire should be tinned.WARNING! -- SUPPORT CABLESPower, input and output cables should be supportedto reduce strain on the terminals and to preventwires from being pulled out.WARNING! -- PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR VENTILATIONAlways install the 12LS such that the slots in thehousing will have unrestricted air flow. Do notblock the slots with other equipment. If temporarycovers are placed over the 12LS during wiring ensurethey are removed prior to operation.3.1 PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONSThe ANAFAZE 12LS consists of a 1/8th DIN housing with a front plug in electronics module.3-1
