The region with the largest area planted per farm was Kilimanjaro (86.6 ha), Arusha(81.2 ha) <strong>and</strong> Kagera (61.0 ha).2.5.3 Crop typesCereals are the main annual crops grown in largescale farms in Tanzania, the area planted withcereals was 53,009 hectares (69% of the total areaplanted with annuals), followed by cash cropswith 15,225 hectares (19%), pulses with 6,555hectares (8%) <strong>and</strong> root <strong>and</strong> tubers with 2,264(3%).
