For most crops it is easy to determine if they are annual or permanent. However, for crops like cassavaand bananas the distinction is not so clear. Cassava has varieties that mature within a year and produces only one harvest, whilst other varieties survive for more than one year and produces several harvests. In this census cassava was treated asan annual crop. Bananas normally take less than a year to mature and produce a harvest and survive for more than oneTanzania Agriculture Sample Census – 2003
