CENSUS RESULTS3.4.3 Access to input supply facilitiesThe results show that, only 54.3% farms reported anaccess to input supply by distance below 10 kilometers.The farms being at the distance from 15 kilometers andabove contributed 36 percent out of 549 farms and mostof farms being at the distance were found in Tanga,Morogoro, Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.3.4.4 Access to hide and skin shadesIn large scale farms keeping livestock, 24 percent are15km or more from a hide and skin shed. The regionsof Manyara and Morogoro have good access to hideand skin sheds with less than 5 percent of farms 15kmor more from the nearest shed. Other highly advantagedregions are Coast, Dar es Salaam and Arusha (5%, 6%and 9% farms are more than 15km from the nearestshed). Two holdings were found in Taboratraveled between 30 to 49 kilometers to reach thenearest watering point,3.4.6 Livestock extension services- Extension services outreachOf the large scale farms that kept livestock, 519 farms(43% of total large scale farms) received extensionservices. This is because some large scale farms havesmall number of livestock and do not qualify as largescale livestock farms. They qualify as large scale farmson crop production but still they received extensionadvice on livestock production.
