<strong>Plum</strong> A+ <strong>Infusion</strong> Systems 3- 11In addition to st<strong>and</strong>ard containers, the <strong>Plum</strong> A+ can use syringeson the secondary port. The secondary line can be preparedwithout removing or repriming the cassette.Before preparing the secondary line, observe the followingguidelines:• Review the backpriming function.• Attach the secondary container using an 18-or 19- gauge, 31 mm (or shorter) needle, if thecassette secondary inlet port has a piercingreseal.• Syringes must be larger than 3 cc. Usesyringe adapter (List 11986-48) when usingsyringes smaller than 10cc. Some 10ccsyringes may require use of a syringeadapter. Syringes larger than 10cc may beattached directly to the secondary port of thecassette. Use of a syringe adapter maydecrease the occurrence of proximalocclusion alarms.• When using a syringe adapter, retract theplunger to draw approximately 1 mL of fluidinto the syringe to clear air from the adapterfilter.To prepare the secondary line, use aseptic technique <strong>and</strong>proceed as follows:With cassette door closed: Loosen <strong>and</strong>remove white cap, then discard.
