Chapter 1Module IntroductionConstant Power Flat Mode (Optional)Variable Gain-Flattened EDFAs can optionally be operated in Constant Power Flatmode. By default, the output power is the nominal output power for the gainflattenedEDFA, which is equal to the composite output power at fully loadedcondition in the Constant Gain mode. The output power can be set to other valuesbetween 5 dBm and the nominal output power in 0.5 dB steps, as shown in thefollowing table.Model Composite Output Power (POUT/C) NoteP2-HD-EDFA-VGF-17-SA 5 dBm – 17 dBm, 0.5 dB stepP2-HD-EDFA-VGF-20-SA 5 dBm – 20 dBm, 0.5 dB stepP2-HD-EDFA-VGF-21-SA 5 dBm – 21 dBm, 0.5 dB stepPIN/C >0 dBmPIN/C >0 dBmPIN/C >0 dBmThis mode of operation maintains gain flatness as long as the gain is within thespecified range for the model.18 78-4037880-01 Rev B
