These days, whethersomething is digital or physicalhardly matters any more: moreand more collections consist ofboth types of material, and moreand more collections are beingdigitized, in whole or in part. Iwould argue that informationabout whether the material isdigital or analog -- and detailsabout the genre/form, such asaudiocassette or jpg files or gelatinprints -- belongs in the scope andcontent, or possibly in thetechnical access section, not in thetitle. Certainly "family papersdigital records" is redundant, sincethe first phrase is just as vague asthe second!2.3.21 This seems likely to lead tocumbersome titles. Again, it seemsthat -- unless the collectionconsists entirely, or almostentirely, of a single format likephotographs -- listing the variousforms e.g. "correspondence, flyersand other material" should bedone in the abstract or scope andcontent note.3.1 notably, there are no examples of ascope and content statement for acollection that consists solely ofdigital files.
