Many, many archivistsare and will continue to beconfused by the very specificbibliographic usage of squarebrackets to indicate informationnot found on the chief source ofinformation. I think in thisintroduction, since you've chosento introduce square brackets, youneed to explicitly mention thatyou mean square brackets asregular punctuation, likeparentheses, and not the specificinstance of square brackets asused by bibliographic catalogersto indicate that information didnot come from the chief source ofinformation. As one strategy, youcould do this with a footnotereferencing rule 2.3.3. In mycomment on this page, I indicateda hopefulness that you'd addressthis distinction elsewhere, butyou don't.
