Special torque limitsare indicated in the maintenance procedures for applicable components. The general torque limits given in thisappendix shall be used when specific torque limits are not indicated in the maintenance procedure. These generaltorque limits cannot be applied to screws that retain rubber components. The rubber components will be damagedbefore the correct torque limit is reached. If a special torque limit is not given in the maintenance instructions, tightenthe screw or nut until it touches the metal bracket, then tighten it one more turn.H-2.TORQUE LIMITS.Table H-1 lists dry torque limits. Dry torque limits are used on screws that do not have lubricants applied to threads.Table H-2 lists wet torque limits. Wet torque limits are used on screws that have high-pressure lubricants applied tothreads.H-3.HOW TO USE TORQUE TABLE.1. Measure the diameter of the screw to beinstalled.2. Count the number of threads per inch or use apitch gage.3. Under the heading SIZE, look down the lefthandcolumn until the diameter of screw to beinstalled is found (there will usually be two linesbeginning with the same size).4. In the second column under SIZE, find thenumber of threads per inch that matches thenumber of threads counted in step 2. H-1
