GENERAL.a. This section provides information for identifying and correcting malfunctions that may develop while operating ormaintaining the trailers.b. The Quick Guide to Troubleshooting (para 4-15) lists common malfunctions of the trailer or its components andrefers you to the Troubleshooting Chart (para 4-16) for the appropriate troubleshooting procedures. You shouldperform the tests/inspections and corrective actions in the order listed.c. If you are unsure of the location of an item mentioned in troubleshooting, refer to paragraph 1-12 or to themaintenance task where the item is replaced.d. Before performing troubleshooting, read and follow all safety instructions listed in the warning summary at thebeginning of this manual.e. This section cannot list all malfunctions that may occur, nor all tests or inspections and corrective actions. If amalfunction is not listed or is not corrected by the corrective actions listed, notify your supervisor.f. When troubleshooting a malfunction:• Locate the symptom(s) in the Quick Guide to Troubleshooting (para 4-15) that best describes themalfunction.• Turn to the page in the Troubleshooting Chart (para 4-16) where the troubleshooting procedures for thesymptom(s) in question are described.• Perform each step in the order listed until the malfunction is corrected. DO NOT perform any maintenancetask unless the troubleshooting procedure tells you to do so.4-14. ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING.a. Paragraph 4-31 provides a schematic diagram for troubleshooting the chassis wiring harness.b. When troubleshooting any electrical system or component, exercise care in order to prevent electrical shock.WARNINGWhen troubleshooting electrical system or electrical components,be certain MASTER switch is OFF between every step unlessotherwise directed. To prevent injury due to electrical shock,remove all jewelry and metal objects when working on electricalsystem.4-7
