GERMAR RUDOLF · THE RUDOLF REPORTCamp (see chapter 5.3.), and in view of the fact that there is no documentaryindication of a criminal use of these rooms, we must concludethat there is no credible proof, and no “criminal trace”, in support ofthe claimed existence of homicidal ‘gas chambers’ in Auschwitz.Considering these facts, it can not really come as a surprise that finallyeven the mainstream historians and media are taking notice ofthem: In May 2002, Fritjof Meyer, a senior editor at Germany’s largest,left-wing weekly magazine Der Spiegel, stated in an article thatdocuments and witness statements regarding the alleged gas chambersin the crematoria II and III of Birkenau“rather indicate that attempts were made in March and April of1943 to use the mortuary cellars for mass murder in the early summer of1943. Apparently, the tests were not successful […] The actually committedgenocide probably took place mainly in the two converted farmhousesoutside of the camp.” 312In other words: there is a tendency to abandon those locationswhich Prof. Dr. R. van Pelt called “the absolute center” in the “geographyof atrocities” (see page 91), or even the Birkenau crematoriaaltogether, since, according to Meyer the genocide is now supposed tohave taken place mainly in those ominous farmhouses or bunkers ofwhich we possess hardly any documentary evidence.Following Meyer, the final destruction of the corpses of thealleged victims of mass murder is now supposed to have happenedalmost exclusively by means of open-air incinerations in deep pits. However, all claims made regarding the alleged open-air incinerationof corpses in deep pits are obviously untrue because no traces of suchincinerations can be found on contemporary air-photos, and becausethe high water table in Birkenau would have prevented themaintenance of fires in deep pits. Those readers who take no interest in the chemical problems relatingto the alleged ‘gas chambers’ in Auschwitz may skip the followingchapter 6. Prior to a solution to the problem of how the poisonouspreparation was introduced into the presumed ‘gas chambers’, furtherspeculation as to the manner and method of the murders, and their pos-312 F.
