7. ZYKLON B FOR THE KILLING OF HUMAN BEINGSflames ever come out of crematorium chimneys. It is also impossible topush eight corpses in an cremation muffle whose door is just two feetwide and high. 447 And apart from that, before Tauber and his coinmateswould have been able to push eight corpses into each oven andget a huge blaze going, any plane they claim to have heard approachingwould have long flown far, far away. Such testimonies are, to usePressac’s words, nothing but downright lies and pure invention. 448Now to the testimony of the witness Richard Böck as quoted duringthe Frankfurt tribunal: 297“One day, it was during the winter of 1942/43, H. asked me,whether I wanted to drive with him to a gassing action. […]The transport train, which had already arrived, stood on the freestretch of track. […]They were all loaded, and driven to a former farmhouse. […]After the entire transport—there must have been approximately1,000 people—was in the building, the door was closed. Finally, an SSman came, I believe it was a Rottenführer, to our ambulance and got outa gas canister. He then went to a ladder with this gas canister. […] Atthe same time, I noticed that he had a gas mask on while climbing theladder. […] he shook […] the contents of the canister into the opening.[…] When he had closed the little door again, an indescribable cryingbegan in the chamber. […] That lasted approximately 8-10 minutes, andthen all was silent. A short time afterwards, the door was opened by inmatesand one could see a bluish cloud floating over a gigantic pile ofcorpses. […] At any rate, I was surprised that the inmate commandowhich was assigned to remove the bodies, entered the chamber withoutgas masks, although this blue vapor floated over the corpses, from whichI assumed that it was a gas. […]”In winter of 1942/1943, no crematorium was operable in Birkenau(the first became operable in spring 1943). For this reason, the allegedvictims of homicidal mass gassings in a farmhouse as attested to byBöck are supposed to have been cremated in open-air pits close to thisfarmhouse. In view of our previous study of the subject, we can establish:• According to professional air photo analyses of the decisive loca-447 On cremation technology, see C.
