5. AUSCHWITZThe garrison physician (army medical officer) and the medicalpersonnel were in charge of implementing all sanitary measures. Thisphysician—and this was the case at Auschwitz as well—was to beconsulted as subject expert in all relevant matters of construction planningand other things. Where hydrogen cyanide was to be used, requirementscalled for specially trained expert personnel. In Auschwitz,this role was filled by the “disinfectors”.5.2.3.2.
