Never before have so manyfine swimmers from so many nations been gathered together to competeagainst each other, and the result showed an enormous increasein interest, and results obtained, in the art of swimming. Therewas not a race but gave a new <strong>Olympic</strong> record, and in swimming,free style, the world’s records for all distances were broken. Moreneed not be said to characterize the competitions, while, to the swimmingexpert, the two phenomenal racing champions, Kahanamoku andHodgson, presented most interesting studies. By means of its excellentrepresentatives -in breast stroke and back stroke, Germany succeededin obtaining first place in the races, but in the free styles the Anglo-Saxon races were pre-eminent, and thanks, to the results of the Ladies’races, Australasia and Great Britain come first here, with the U.
