80 Guide to the Isle of Man.to Eamsey, tbougli, especially after heavy raius, it welldeserves attention. It is somewhat of the shape, though inminiature, of the famous Grey Mare's Tail (waterfall), nearMoffat, in the south of Scotland. It has a fall of sixty feet.BaUasJcijr Waterfall, a short distance above it, is prott^sand if we had walked down the stream, would have attractedour attention, but as we have seen the other first, it suffersfrom the comparison. If we feel disposed to follow the stream, we see, as we getnear its source, a large wheel and lead workings, which werecarried on by an English company, till they liad exhaustedtheir capital, without remunerative return. We could, if wepleased, walk hence across the fields to our left, and make forsome farmhouses and a church on the wayside ; and havinggained them, proceed (to the right) straight on, until, afterabout two miles' walking, we reach the inn near Glen Helen, and combine a visit to that well-known fall with this excursion. But as we shall see it in duo course, we return, to ourinn, after looking at the wheel, and "putting to" oncemore, drive home to Douglas, via Ballacraine, in the coolof the evening, well pleased with our long day's trip, andsufficiently fatigued to make our night's rest welcome.
