Thus, at <strong>the</strong>south end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>to</strong>wn, what was, barely half-a-dozen yearsago, a pasture field, is now occupied by <strong>the</strong> terrace <strong>of</strong> h<strong>and</strong>somehouses, called Bnllure Mount, built especially for <strong>the</strong>accommodation <strong>of</strong> visi<strong>to</strong>rs. Fur<strong>the</strong>r down <strong>the</strong> road, <strong>and</strong>at <strong>the</strong> foot <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> new L<strong>and</strong>ing Pier, ano<strong>the</strong>r terrace <strong>of</strong>commodious lodging-houses has been erected on StanleyMount. On <strong>the</strong> Promenade itself, <strong>to</strong>o, every available plo<strong>to</strong>f ground is being eagerly occupied, one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> more recentadditions being a large boarding establislunent, known asAlma House; it has an attractive front, <strong>and</strong> its windowscomm<strong>and</strong> an unrivalled sea viev,\Parliament Street is <strong>the</strong> chief business thoroughfare inPiamsey. It contains some good shops <strong>and</strong> buildings, amongwhich are <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Isle</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Man</strong> BanJclng Comjjani/.The Court House will be easily distinguished by its isolation ;it is <strong>of</strong> recent erection <strong>and</strong> surrounded by a grass plot, trees,<strong>and</strong> ornamental iron railing. The Post Office, <strong>to</strong>o, in thisstreet, will be readily found. Parliament Street communicateswithThe Marlict Place, which is situated at <strong>the</strong> eastern portion<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Quay. It is large <strong>and</strong> convenient ; in fact, it is <strong>the</strong> bes<strong>to</strong>n <strong>the</strong> isl<strong>and</strong>. St. Paul's Church st<strong>and</strong>s on <strong>the</strong> south side ;<strong>the</strong> north side is open ; <strong>and</strong> shops, &c., are situated on <strong>the</strong>o<strong>the</strong>r side. The ground occupied by <strong>the</strong> present MarketPlace formed at one time a portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> harbour, but wasreclaimed in 1835, <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> work being defrayed bypublic subscription.
