Thns, as we shall hereafterhave reason <strong>to</strong> know, <strong>and</strong> as a glance at our map will informus, two roads run from Douglas southwards <strong>to</strong> Castle<strong>to</strong>wn,<strong>and</strong> is continued <strong>the</strong>nce <strong>to</strong> St. Mary's <strong>and</strong> Port Erin. FromCastle<strong>to</strong>wn, ano<strong>the</strong>r highway runs almost due north <strong>to</strong>Ballaugh, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>n crosses <strong>the</strong> isl<strong>and</strong> <strong>to</strong> Eamsey, next <strong>to</strong>Douglas, its principal <strong>to</strong>wn ; whence a third skirts <strong>the</strong>eastern coast <strong>and</strong> enables us <strong>to</strong> regam <strong>the</strong> capital. Ano<strong>the</strong>rmain i-oad connects Douglas with Peel, <strong>the</strong> Yarmouth <strong>of</strong> thislittle kingdom, crossing that from Castle<strong>to</strong>wn <strong>to</strong> Ramsey atSt. John's ; while available roads hnk Ramsey with <strong>the</strong>Point <strong>of</strong> Ayre <strong>and</strong> every o<strong>the</strong>r spot worth visiting in <strong>the</strong>extreme north <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> isl<strong>and</strong>.
