Nina ObuljenNina Obuljen is a research fellow at <strong>the</strong> Institute for International Relations in Zagreb, Croatia.Currently, she is Assistant Minister for International Relations and <strong>EU</strong> Affairs at <strong>the</strong> CroatianMinistry <strong>of</strong> Culture. She graduated both from <strong>the</strong> Academy <strong>of</strong> Music and <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Arts at <strong>the</strong>University <strong>of</strong> Zagreb. She holds a Masters <strong>of</strong> Political Science from <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Zagreb and isenrolled in doctoral studies at <strong>the</strong> same University. She is a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Editorial Board <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Culturelink Review and a former member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Steering Committee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> International Networkfor Cultural Diversity (INCD).From 2004 until 2006 Ms Obuljen was <strong>the</strong> chairperson <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Cultural Council for InternationalRelations and <strong>European</strong> Integration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ministry <strong>of</strong> Culture <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Republic <strong>of</strong> Croatia. MsObuljen was head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Croatian delegation for <strong>the</strong> negotiations about <strong>the</strong> Draft Conventionon <strong>the</strong> protection and promotion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> diversity <strong>of</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> expressions in UNESCO. She isa member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Croatian negotiating team for <strong>the</strong> accession to <strong>the</strong> <strong>EU</strong> for <strong>the</strong> chapters onEducation and Culture; and Information Society and Media.In July 2004 Nina Obuljen was awarded <strong>the</strong> <strong>European</strong> Cultural Policy Research Award forher research on <strong>the</strong> <strong>impact</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>EU</strong> enlargement on <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>policies</strong>. Nina Obuljen is <strong>the</strong> author<strong>of</strong> several articles in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> policy focusing in particular on <strong>the</strong> issues <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>EU</strong>integration, transformations <strong>of</strong> <strong>cultural</strong> <strong>policies</strong> and <strong>cultural</strong> diversity.116Biography Nina Obuljen
