Trying Things Out
There’s loads for children to do in Leipzig
as well. An absolute “must” is a visit to
Leipzig Zoo, one of the oldest and most
diverse zoos in the world. Embark on a
thrilling trip back to prehistoric times in
Gondwanaland, the tropical experience
world, and discover the diversity of the
tropical rainforest up close! And close to
the edge of the city, in the Leipzig New
Lakeland area, is Eastern Germany’s
largest theme park BELANTIS. The
HURACAN mega-rollercoaster is certainly
not for the faint -hearted: with five loops
and a vertical climb of 32 metres, it features
in the top ten of the world’s steepest
rollercoasters! And there’s no shortage of
excitement at the Theater der Jungen Welt
either, the oldest children’s and youth
theatre in the German-speaking world.
Its aim is to encourage young people to
be curious, take the plunge and have a
go at something new.
