Culinary Highlights
Leipzig’s food and drink scene is more than worthy of a
cultural metropolis – trade and architecture are not the only
areas which bear the mark of over eight hundred years of
international visitors. Feast on specialities from all corners
of the globe – or indeed enjoy some typical Leipzig or Saxon
treats. Sample the delights of original Leipziger Allerlei
(a hot dish of mixed vegetables), Mutzbraten (marinaded
pork on the spit), Leipziger Räbchen (battered prunes filled
with marzipan), Quarkkeulchen (cream cheese dumplings)
or Leipziger Lerche (Leipzig’s answer to the cherry bakewell).
