Marvel at the outstanding works of art in the former gasometer. The
striking industrial monument, now the Leipzig Panometer, has been
home to the world’s largest 360° panoramic painting since 2003.
The creative mind behind the monumental circular images, as high as
a ten-storey building, is the Berlin architect and artist Yadegar Asisi.
Following on from the previous paintings (“AMAZONIA”, “Rome 312”
and “8848 Everest 360˚”) there will be a new exhibition for 2013:
“Leipzig 1813 – In the Turmoil of the Battle of the Nations”.

Leipzig – Experience History
Over its 1,000-year history, Leipzig has often been the centre of great
historical events, events which changed the face of Europe forever.
In 1813, the Battle of the Nations ended here with the defeat of
Napoleon, a decisive turning point in the wars of liberation. In 1989,
Leipzig became the focal point for the Peaceful Revolution which
signalled the beginning of the end of the GDR and paved the way to
German reunification. Trace these and other historic events and get
to know one of the most dynamic cities in Germany.

In and around Leipzig, October 2013 will be a time of commemoration,
celebration and participation. In the autumn of 1813 the Battle of the
Nations sealed victory for the allied armies in the German Campaign against
Napoleon. One hundred years later the Monument to the Battle of the Nations
was officially unveiled. Take a tour of the historical sites of the Battle of the
Nations, and don’t forget to drop in at the “Brauhaus Napoleon” inn, which
dates all the way back to 1624.
