Panorama Artwork in Leipzig Marvel at the outstanding works of art in the former gasometer. The striking industrial monument, now the Leipzig Panometer, has been home to the world’s largest 360° panoramic painting since 2003. The creative mind behind the monumental circular images, as high as a ten-storey building, is the Berlin architect and artist Yadegar Asisi. In 1813, the Battle of the Nations ended here with the defeat of Napoleon, a decisive turning point in the wars of liberation. In 1989, Leipzig became the focal point for the Peaceful Revolution which signalled the beginning of the end of the GDR and paved the way to German reunification.
