Qualification Aim<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> this qualification is to<br />

guide and assess development <strong>of</strong><br />

knowledge and skills relating to social<br />

care and the learning development<br />

and support services workforces.<br />

This qualification confirms<br />

competence in these areas where<br />

appropriate and serves as the required<br />

qualification (for all new practitioners)<br />

for registration and regulatory<br />

requirements in the sector.<br />

Qualification Structure<br />

This qualification consists <strong>of</strong><br />

14 mandatory units (including 3<br />

mandatory units from the Learning,<br />

Development and Support Services<br />

pathway, or Social Care pathway)<br />

and 52 optional units.<br />

To be awarded this qualification,<br />

learners must successfully complete<br />

the 14 mandatory units and at least<br />

25 credits from the optional units.<br />
