These qualifications have been<br />

designed to introduce learners to the<br />

world <strong>of</strong> work, and to a broad range<br />

<strong>of</strong> essential skills. These include job<br />

search skills, personal preparation for<br />

employment and effective behaviour<br />

at work. These qualifications are<br />

flexible by nature and include a wide<br />

range <strong>of</strong> optional units that can<br />

be selected and tailored towards<br />

individual learners. The units are<br />

generic so that they can be applied in<br />

any context into any sector area.<br />

The new mandatory ‘understanding<br />

mindset’ unit provides learners<br />

with an understanding <strong>of</strong> how their<br />

employability can be affected by their<br />

mindset, focusing on the key qualities<br />

sought by employers.<br />

Qualification Structure<br />

Level 1 Award in Employability Skills<br />

To be awarded this qualification,<br />

learners must successfully complete<br />

6 credits in total. Learners must<br />

complete the mandatory unit in<br />

group A for 2 credits. The remaining<br />

4 credits can come from groups B or<br />

C; however a maximum <strong>of</strong> 2 credits<br />

can come from group C.<br />

Level 1 Certificate in<br />

Employability Skills<br />

To be awarded this qualification,<br />

learners must successfully complete<br />

15 credits in total. Learners must<br />

complete the mandatory unit in<br />

group A for 2 credits. The remaining<br />

13 credits can come from groups<br />

B or C; however a maximum <strong>of</strong> 7<br />

credits can come from group C.<br />
