Qualification Aim<br />

This qualification aims to enable<br />

progression into commercial radio<br />

and other broadcast employment.<br />

This qualification, which has been<br />

developed with a group <strong>of</strong> industry<br />

practitioners and employers,<br />

assesses the competence <strong>of</strong> learners<br />

who’d like to enter or who already<br />

work in the radio industry.<br />

Qualification Structure<br />

The qualification is structured in such<br />

a way that learners can take a broad<br />

combination <strong>of</strong> units, or choose one<br />

<strong>of</strong> 6 specialised pathways in:<br />

• content<br />

• technical production<br />

• production<br />

• research<br />

• image and commercial production<br />

• presentation.<br />

To be awarded this qualification,<br />

learners must successfully complete<br />

the 2 mandatory units plus at least<br />

30 credits from the optional units.<br />

Qualification Aim<br />

This qualification aims to enable<br />

learners to assist in preparing a<br />

venue for a production. Learners<br />

will explore different roles and<br />

responsibilities <strong>of</strong> a theatre<br />

technician and will have the<br />

opportunity to work with stage<br />

sound and lighting systems in a<br />

theatre environment.<br />

Learners will also learn about<br />

different types <strong>of</strong> stage and scenery<br />

construction skills and have an<br />

opportunity to assist in the creation<br />

<strong>of</strong> characters whilst maintaining safe<br />

working practices.<br />

This qualification also enables<br />

learners to develop their<br />

communication and team<br />

working skills.<br />

Qualification Structure<br />

This qualification consists <strong>of</strong> one<br />

mandatory unit, 4 optional units<br />

and 3 additional units.<br />

To be awarded this qualification,<br />

learners must successfully complete<br />

the one mandatory unit and at least<br />

2 optional units.<br />

Learners may wish to complete<br />

the additional units to gain extra<br />

credits and to facilitate progression;<br />

however, these units won’t<br />

contribute towards the overall<br />

credit value <strong>of</strong> the qualification.<br />
