Qualification Aim
This is a knowledge-based
qualification suitable for all support
staff roles in schools. This includes all
those involved in supporting children
and young people in a school
environment, such as administrators,
site staff or volunteers. As it’s a
knowledge-based qualification, it
can be taken by learners not yet
employed in a school, as well as
providing initial training or induction
for those new in post.
Qualification Structure
This qualification consists of 4
mandatory units and 2 optional units.
To be awarded this qualification,
learners must successfully complete
the 4 mandatory units and at least 3
credits from the optional units.

members of the school workforce
who directly support the teaching
and learning of their own learners.
The qualification incorporates the
knowledge-based units in the Level
2 Award in Support Work in Schools
and adds competency-based
units to reflect the role of those
supporting learners learning.
Qualification Structure
This qualification consists of
9 mandatory units and 15 optional
units.
To be awarded this qualification,
learners must complete the
9 mandatory units and a minimum
of 6 credits from the optional units.
