Wilhelm Stührenberg GmbH & Co. KG
In Nordenham, direkt an der Weser, betreiben wir mittlerweile
in dritter Generation unser mittelständisches Transport-
Our medium-sized family transport and logistics company
in Nordenham directly on the river Weser is being run
meanwhile by the third generation. Our versatile fleet of
trucks moves industrial goods right across Europe. Large
warehouses directly on the river Weser together with port
operations and a railway branch line offer our customers
one-shop logistics. Modern machinery and many years of
experience even in the most difficult terrain are the foundations
for our first-rate earthworks and demolition serv -
ices. We work together with our customers as partners and
offer the flexibility and creativity of a medium-sized family
company, providing a good basis for the future.
bulk goods such as coal and chemical raw materials.
The new container port can handle 2.7 million standard
containers each year, although it still has a long way to
go before it operates anywhere near its capacity levels.
However, the future looks promising for the JadeWeser-
Port, given the trend to ever larger ships in the branch
with ship volumes approaching 20,000 containers and
draughts that only Wilhelmshaven can cope with in
Germany. “The JadeWeserPort will assume outstanding
significance for the region”, confirms Olaf Preuß, journalist
and port expert.
Brake port is operated by the J. Müller group. The port’s
main activities consist in handling, storing and moving
primarily grain, fodder, steel products, wind turbines,
forestry products, biomass and sulphur, together with
complete industrial plants. It also offers a comprehensive
range of services. Brake’s grain and fodder silos are among
the leading facilities of their kind in Europe. Most of the
animal husbandry sector in the Oldenburger Münsterland
procures fodder via Brake and is dependent on the port.
At the mouth of the river Weser, Rhenus Midgard operates
two port terminals in Nordenham and Blexen. The ter -
minals mainly handle coal, timber, steel and iron products
together with liquid goods and oil products. Coal is taken
by train and inland vessels to power stations and steelworks
throughout the whole of Germany. Oldenburg at
the heart of the Oldenburger Land is Lower Saxony’s
prime port for handling agricultural goods and construction
materials. It is located at the intersection of the river
Hunte, which is a sea waterway navigable for coastal
vessels, with the coastal canal. The coastal canal is also
