CHILDREN’S CARE, LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT (EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR) LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA<br />

Level 3 Entitlement (or 19+ Advanced Learner Loan) may apply to you<br />

This course is the recognised qualification for people working in the Childcare sector with children aged 0-5 years<br />

(with a working knowledge of 5-7 year olds). It will cover the skills required by an Early Years Practitioner. You must be<br />

18 or over to enrol with at least one year’s current experience working with children and/or have an existing relevant<br />

Level 2 qualification. You will need to have GCSEs in maths and English grade A-C and you must be volunteering or be<br />

employed for a minimum of 14 hours per week in a childcare setting at the start of, and for the duration of, this course<br />

as you will be assessed in the workplace. In addition we are required to obtain a reference from your employer prior to<br />

you starting the course. You will also need to have some basic ICT skills to undertake this course as you will be using an<br />

electronic portfolio, however if your ICT skills are weak please let us know and we can provide support. If you are aged<br />

19 or over then you may be able to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan.<br />

This course will help you improve your career prospects and enable you to work in a variety of childcare settings.<br />

You may wish to progress on to the Leadership for Children’s Care, Learning & Development Level 5 Diploma.<br />

‘I really enjoy caring for my own children and wanted to continue this in to a career in childcare.<br />

This course has helped me to understand the background and helped me gain confidence in a childcare<br />

setting. Once I have completed my course I hope to progress on to the Level 3 course as eventually<br />

I would like to become a Teaching Assistant in a primary school.’<br />

SPECIALIST SUPPORT FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SCHOOLS LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA<br />

cover the skills required by a Teaching Assistant. Students must be 18 or over to enrol and you must have at least<br />

1 year’s experience working with children or young people in a school setting from Year 1 upwards and/or have an<br />

existing Level 2 qualification. As this course requires a good level of English, you will undertake an assessment during<br />

the first class to confirm your place. You also need to be working as a paid employee or as a volunteer (you will need<br />

a reference from your placement) for a minimum of 14 hours per week in a school setting at the start of, and for the<br />

duration of, this course, as you will be assessed in the workplace. You will also need to have some basic ICT skills to<br />
