LEARNER SUPPORT FUND<br />

If you are a student aged 19 or over, you may be eligible to get help with the costs of course and exam fees, equipment,<br />

travel and childcare through the Learner Support Fund. This is a limited fund for certain courses so early application is<br />

advised.<br />

For more information on whether you are eligible for the Learner Support Fund or if you would like to apply for the fund,<br />

please contact Student Services on 01274 327281.<br />

CLASS CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY<br />

Prior to the commencement of a course, the <strong>College</strong> will consider an application for the refund of fees. The <strong>College</strong><br />

will refund fees if the course fails to start or if it is cancelled by the <strong>College</strong> within 3 weeks of the start date due to low<br />

enrolments. Once the course has started, refunds are not available in any other circumstances.<br />

If a class is cancelled for reasons beyond the <strong>College</strong>’s control, such as bad weather, the <strong>College</strong> will attempt to give<br />

as much warning as possible. While every attempt will be made to replace a cancelled class, we regret that the <strong>College</strong><br />

cannot guarantee to do so. Where it proves impossible to do so, the <strong>College</strong> will not make a refund.<br />

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES<br />

<strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to supporting the learning of all students. If you have a disability, learning difficulty or have<br />

benefited from support in the past we encourage you to tell us about it. We can then work with you to provide the help<br />

Currently <strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong> has a full complement of<br />

Governors. Vacancies do occur from <strong>time</strong> to <strong>time</strong> so if<br />

you are interested in making a contribution and serving<br />

as a Governor for the Corporation, please contact<br />

the Clerk. Meetings are generally held on Tuesday<br />

evenings.<br />

ACCESS TO GOVERNING BODY<br />

MEETINGS & INFORMATION<br />

Governing Body meetings are open to members of<br />

the public to attend by contacting the Clerk to the<br />

Corporation at least 7 days in advance of the meeting.<br />

The full policy on public access to meetings along<br />

with the approved Minutes of the Corporation and<br />

Committees are available on the <strong>College</strong> website or by<br />

application to the Clerk.<br />

Access to other information, for example the register of<br />

member interests, agendas, papers, dates of meetings<br />

etc. are available on request by writing to the Clerk to<br />

the Corporation, as above, enclosing an A4 stamped<br />

addressed envelope.<br />
