This course is ideal if you would like to develop a career in working with adults in health and social care settings<br />

and need a starting point. Learn how to help health and social care professionals in supporting adults with complex<br />

needs and how to maintain a safe and interesting environment. As this course requires a good level of English, you will<br />

undertake an assessment during the first class to confirm your place. After successfully completing this course, you can<br />

progress on to the Health & Social Care Level 2 Diploma for which you will need to have recently completed a minimum<br />

of 140 hours of voluntary work in a health and social care setting, and then maintain a minimum of 14 hours a week<br />

during the course. Alternatively, if you are not ready for this, you could enrol on to the Preparing to Work in Adult Social<br />

Care course, which covers the majority of the knowledge from the mandatory units of the Health and Social Care Level<br />

PREPARING TO WORK IN ADULT SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE (COMMUNITY PROVISION)<br />

Level 2 Entitlement may apply to you<br />

This qualification is aimed at people interested in working in adult social care. You will develop the professional<br />

knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to work in this sector. Topics include: communication, the role of the social<br />

care worker, handling information, health and safety, person centred care, safeguarding and duty of care. As this is<br />

an intensive course which requires a good level of English, you will undertake an assessment during the first class to<br />

confirm your place. You will need to attend the Centre one day a week. After successfully completing this course, you<br />

could progress into paid or voluntary work in adult social care. If you wish to progress on to the Health & Social Care<br />

Level 2 Diploma, you will need to have recently completed a minimum of 140 hours of work experience and then maintain<br />

a minimum of 14 hours a week during the course. Admission is by a short, informal discussion - please phone 01274<br />

Young People’s Workforce Level 2 Certificate, for which you will need to have recently completed a minimum of 140<br />

hours of voluntary work in a Childcare setting, and then maintain a minimum of 14 hours a week during the course.<br />

Alternatively, if you are not ready for this, you could enrol on to the Preparing to Work in Childcare course, which covers<br />

some of the knowledge from the mandatory units of the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 2 Certificate.<br />
