COURSE: PREPARING TO WORK WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE LEVEL 2
NAME: ALISON I AGE: 42
‘I chose to study the Level 1 Caring for Children and then progress onto the Level 2 Preparing to Work
with Children and Young People as when I was younger I didn’t have the opportunity to further my
education. I thoroughly enjoyed both of these courses, as I was able to study whilst working around my
son. In fact, I’m enrolling back in September to work towards expanding my qualifications in Childcare. I am
currently completing my 140 hours work placement at a nursery in Bradford. When I have finished I either
want to gain permanent employment at a nursery or become a Teaching Assistant.’
ALISON’S TUTOR SOPHIE SAYS:
‘Alison has recently started working on a voluntary basis at a nursery, which she is really enjoying.
Her confidence and self esteem has improved dramatically as a result of doing the community courses.’
PREPARING TO WORK IN CHILDCARE LEVEL 2 (COMMUNITY PROVISION)
Level 2 Entitlement may apply to you
This qualification is aimed at people interested in working in childcare. Topics include: communication, the role of the
child care worker, health and safety, safeguarding and child development. As this course requires a good level of
English, you will undertake an assessment during the first class to confirm your place. After successfully completing this
course, you could progress on to the Children and Young People’s Workforce Level 2 Certificate. However, you will need
to have recently completed a minimum of 140 hours of work experience and then maintain a minimum of 14 hours a week
during the course. Admission is by short, informal discussion - please phone 01274 327327.
