SAFER PEOPLE MOVING AND HANDLING<br />

Do you work in Health & Social Care, want to work in Health & Social Care, or have an unpaid caring responsibility for<br />

someone with a physical disability? In all these cases it is vital you know how to safely and correctly move and handle<br />

the person you are caring for, and the equipment needed, to ensure their dignity. This course covers everything from<br />

the anatomy of the spine and types of injuries that can occur from unsafe practice; responsibilities; risk assessments;<br />

person centred plans; moving and handling people and equipment in line with current legislation as well as other<br />

essential information.<br />

You need to be 18 years old or over and physically fit to undertake this practically based course. Please wear<br />

comfortable clothing and flat shoes. Upon completion you will receive a <strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong> Certificate. Please note you<br />

will still need training on how to use your equipment safely.<br />
